The Serra da Estrela Nature Park is a protected space at almost 2000 metres of altitude where we you will a remarkable natural diversity and fantastic landscapes within which you will find numerous opportunities to practise all kinds of outdoor sports .

The Serra da Estrela has an area of over 1000 square kilometres and is located within the districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco in Central Portugal. The largest cities in this region are those of Covilha, Seia and Guard.

The Zezere River, partly frozen in winter, offers rapids that form in its descent through the granite rocks, with significant declines, such as the one found in the Vale da Amoreira with waterfalls like the 'Poco de Infierno'. In this region we find an abundant vegetation, medicinal water, such as that found at 'Caldas de Manteigas', and green valleys.

We must not forget that if you want to take advantage of the stunning nature and wildlife on offer in the Sierra, in the town of Seia you will also find a wonderful set of caves and some beautiful vantage points from which to contemplate much of the nature park.

The composition of this nature park is highly dependent on the granite, thre work of glaciers and its freshwater ponds.
